When I bought my computer, it asked if I wanted to put a password for my administrator whatever. I didnt and ploughed on. I since have had problems when it asks when i try a repair what my password is, and accepts none I put forward. I've got by, so it doesnt matter.
BUT. When I asked about this on another forum - , I got panned and made to feel I was doing something illegal by a jumped up pompous jobsworth of a moderator, who also locked the question so I couldn't reply (I have a short fuse with such people) it was not intended in the way he hinted at, and I'd be happy for anyone on here to explain such an attitude. Because I'm still seething.
I've never had such a snotty self important attitude on here, or, to be fair, on there either. Its the first time I've read this blokes name. Not a good first impression.
Just curious as to the mentality behind what I see as an insult, so I can ease my sense of injustice and outrage.

I just read that post on the other forum, and we have the same rules here. The very same thing would happen here.
The only method to get around this that can be posted is to format the hard drive, and install XP, then enter in your Admin password.

Glad you got by the problem. Hopefully it was just a matter of leaving the password block blank (since you did give yourself an admin password - the blank thing).

Just curious as to the mentality behind what I see as an insult, so I can ease my sense of injustice and outrage.

On here, you would not be bashed but if your question was phrased to indicate (or seem to indicate) you wanted help cracking or bypassing an existing password, you'd see a link to our Posting Rules and probably to #6 in particular.

I'd also usually lock the thread and I suspect more than one or two posters on here have gotten upset with me for doing that. The more mature ones usually react by sending a PM either explaining what they really meant (if other than a bypass/crack) or apologizing for the post.

Perhaps, noahdfear, if it had been directed against yourself, you may have thought differently. I dont like being linked in with anything nasty no matter how well put. And that WASN'T.

Well, I see you're going to interpret it the way you want, instead of for what it really was. My helpful post has been edited. I second Newt's last statement.

Highly recommend you read the rules posted here and at any other site you post at. Sine this thread has absolutely nothing to do with Internet Explorer, it’s being closed.
