    Hello.

I have a double-edged problem trying to install TrueType fonts in Windows 2000.

Having downloaded some fonts, I learnt that I could install them by going to the Fonts Folder in the Control Panel and clicking "add" in the File Menu. Curiously, however, I do not have an "add" option in my Fonts Folder. How can this be?

I by-passed this little twilight zone by dragging the fonts directly into the Fonts Folder, yet none of my applications seem to recognise them. I am flumoxed. Can anybody help me?

The winnt\fonts folder may have lost the system attribute.

To check go to start > run... enter CMD

    Change to the winnt folder:

    C:\>CD WINNT

    Check the attributes:

    C:\WINNT>ATTRIB FONTS
    A R C:\WINNT\Fonts

    IF "S" attribute missing, re-add:

    C:\WINNT>ATTRIB +S FONTS

Or your user account may not have sufficient rights to the machine to do the font installs.
