This is related to my previous post regarding QuickTime. When I go to Add/remove programs and click on the programs I want to delete (iTunes and QuickTime), I get a momentary window referring to the Install Wizard setup then this goes away and nothing further happens. Since I'm unable to remove previous versions, I can't install new and functioning versions of the software. Thank you for any suggestions.

    Hello Sowbird,

See if this is the problem:

"Error 1719: The Windows Installer service could not be accessed" error message when you try to add or remove a program
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;Q315346

FYI, the Add/Remove applet uses the program's uninstaller usually contained in the program's folder in Program Files to uninstall, Add/Remove does not uninstall programs on its own.

So if the program has an Uninstaller in its folder, that can be used if no Add/Remove entry. If a program does not have an uninstaller, Add/Remove is useless.

    Regards - Charles

Thank you for your reply. I think that is the problem, I deleted all the uninstall files. Oops. I'll try to reinstall the programs, then delete.
