Adapter not recognized

Here's what i'm running. DELL LM M166ST, with windows 98SE. Linksys Wireless-B Notebook Adapter, Model #WPC11. Here my problem, After I install the software that came with the linksys adapter. And it tells me it installed. I insert the adapter and reboot, windows or laptop does not recognize that the adapter was inserted. So I go to Devise Manager and it is not there. I uninstalled and reinstalled many times, rebooted many times. But it never shows up in the devise manager. Is this a problem with this computer or am I over looking something. Thank-You zek
