    Hello all...
I always get a message which says 'your current security setting prohibit running active x controls on this page, as a result the page may not display correctly.' so i went into the control pannel and changed the setting in the internet options, but the message keeps coming up...so i'm unable to use some programs such as norton anti-virus... can anyone tell me how to fix this problem? cheers

When you right click on the Information Bar ('your current security setting prohibit running active x controls on this page, as a result the page may not display correctly.') are you offered a menu to allow ActiveX or just 'Information Bar Help).

BTW - Suggest you set up IE as outlined here

    security settings

If PeteC suggestion does not work and it probably will, try resetting IE to the medium security setting

    Open Internet Explorer.

From the top menu, click "Tools > Internet Options ".

    Click the "Security" tab.

    Click the "Custom level" button.

Under "Reset Custom Settings ", select "Medium" from the drop-down menu.

    click the "Reset" button.

When asked to confirm, click "Yes ".

    Click "OK ".

...ok I right clicked and there were no options

...I reset the internet options, and tried opening norton, same problem..so i rebooted, tried again, same problem...I then set the internet security to low, but same problem...however, I checked the internet zone, and IE resent it to medium... really weird!

Are you on the Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab - scroll down to Security - see below.

I'm not convinced this is the cause of the problem - NAV 2005 and all other programs run happily on my PC's without that checked, but give it a try. Which version of NAV are you running?

If you suspect the last batch of updates uninstall them - if the problem is resolved, reinstall them one by one until the problem reappears - you will then know which update is causing the problem.

You can readily check which updates are installed and their installation date with WinUpdatesList, note the numbers, go to Add/Remove Programs - check the 'Show Updates' box at the top, scroll down and locate them.
