    Hi,

I am maintaining a large number of Word doucments and find that the abbreviations list at the end of the doucment is the same for all of them. If an abbreviation is added I need to change all the documents.

Is there a way to keep a master list of abbreviations, in another single document for example, and use a link or some other mechanism so they appear in my main set of documents?

I seem to remember in the past that there is a way but cannot remember the details.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Regards PC Farmer

    Hi,

No its my own list of abbreviations. Like you I checked the help file but could not find anything on this.

Perhaps the abbreviation list is throwing the issue.

What I would like to do is add a reference in my doucment to another document so that when it is opened the reference expands to the contents of the referenced document. If you know what I mean.

I am sure that somewhere I have seen this done but cannot remember where or how.

    Any ideas?

Of course what would really be useful is if Word could search through the doucment and produce its own list of abbreviations, a bit like how the contents page is created.

    Hi,

I have found out a bit more by trial and error. It looks as through there are two ways to do what I want. Either Insert|Object|Create from File or Edit|Paste Special. I have tried both ways but the problem I now have is that only the first page of the linked document is shown. I have not found a way to show all of its contents which would span more than one page.

    Is this possible?

    Regards PC Farmer
