I have just had to reinstall XP Home,I have remembered how to tweak most things to my liking but one I can't remember is how do I get rid of when programs haven't been used for a while they go a different colour in the start menu?

Just a minor irritation but I am a perfectionist. :p

    Two Possibilities...

    Hi There,

    Two possibilities...

    Classic Start Menu only
    1) Personalised Menu - Disable this by right clicking the task bar and clicking properties. then click the start menu tab. click customise. in the window, scroll down the list and untick the box 'Use personalised menu'

    Windows XP Style start menu
    2) Highlight newly installed programs - Disable this by right clicking the task bar and clicking properties. then click the start menu tab. click customise. in the window, click on the advanced tab. then untick the box 'highlight newly installed programs...
By the way, if you have any problems or it is confusing, just say! :)
    HTH,
