Greetings Ghost board! I'm trying to disable my firewall so I can put peoplepc on. The problem is, I can not find my firewall! I don't even know if I have one. Is there anyone out there who can tell me how to find/disable/and reable my 98se firewall? :)

There is no built in firewall in Win98SE.

Check if you have installed a third party firewall.

Then how do I stay protected?

I looked for a firewall in control panal and found nothing! I looked in HELP and it said there was no such topic! I feel like a girl in a mini dress at a bikers rally with no underware on! LOL What am I gonna do?

Upgrade to atleast XP if you can. Microsoft has stopped supporting Win98 & no further patches are available for that OS. Similarly no hardware/software manufacturer is providing any drivers/support for it.

You can download & install 3rd party firewall like Tiny firewall, Zonealaram etc. You may have to scout for their older versions as all the latest versions don't support Win98.

Ok, thanks! I'll check into a third party firewall! Yea, having 98se is like being handicapped with no feet, no arms, no legs, no head, and no torso! So all you have left is the Buttocks! No wonder my computer runs like ****! I hate 98se!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Don't.

Remember that Win98SE was the most used & stable  MS OS before WinXP. WinME was a joke [like Vista] & Win2k was primarily aimed as server OS.

The above website has a firewall that will work for you, scroll down to the Security heading. I recommend getting Sygate version 5.5.2710. This firewall in it's day was the one to have.
There is a version 5.6, but I believe it is a Beta version shoved out onto the net just before Symnatec (Norton) bought them out. I have used both, and found 5.6 just a tad slower.
You might find other software that interests you there, also.

Cool, I'll take a look! I downloaded a firewall from pctools only to open it and find out it wouldn't work on the 98se. :( :) Thanks!
