I don't know about the registry fix. I use TweakUI for XP.
Copy folder "I386" to whereever you wish. Use tweakUI for XP to direct the installer to you new folder.
Yeah, Pete, mine says the same in IE/help about. It has said that since the updates started after sp1 was installed.

In your OE Options, General Tab, does it say that OE is your default mail handler? Here is a place to fix a lot more things than I know how to do.
