    Hello all,

Until a few months ago, I stayed logged in unless something "untoward" happened but nowadays, I get logged out on a regular basis. This change in behaviour coincides with the offer to create a "free account" of some kind. I'm not in the least interested in creating a "free account" but I suspect that me not doing so is the reason for getting logged out. That's Microsofts way of "reminding the unwilling bastard".

Can someone confirm that my suspicion is correct? If so, I'll abandon Outlook (former Hotmail) as my backup email provider because I'm getting fed up with it.

I don't have any such problems. I am using both paid (Office 365) & free accounts and none of my accounts has the problem.

Try emptying out your cache or a different browser.

I'm running Firefox and don't want to install another one (read: Chrome) just to try. Internet Explorer and Edge are there with Windows 10 but I'll start by emptying the cache in FF.

Maybe that's the problem, migrating and redirecting old links? My old link wasn't even https but http.

I updateded it to "https://outlook.live.com/mail/0/inbox" by creating a new one but two visits later I had to relog in.

After relogging in, I was at a much longer link with a question mark and a row of characters after "inbox". I've updated once more and the jury is still out.

In the first post I wrote "Until a few months ago, ..." but read that as a month or two. I'm still running 81.0.2 but have considered upgrading to 82.0.1 when it shows up.

Well, no matter what I do, Outlook (former Hotmail) is logging me out on an irregular basis and urges me to create a free account of som kind. That will not happen so I guess I'll have to find another backup email client.

On november 9, version 2004 of Windows 10 was forcefully installed on my DeskTop. It actually made me angry when that happened without my conscent on a version (1909) that is still supported. One (1) positive effect that has made a difference for me is that since then, I no longer get logged out from Outlook (former Hotmail)!

What you are reluctantly saying is that it pays to keep updated? ;)

No, my system was updated to a currently supported version. Microsoft had messed with Outlook!
