I have seen several of these adapter/converters around. The price varies from $10 to $50. I'm wondering if there are any recommended brands--or if the more expensive units will deliver a higher quality image?

Probably not. I have seen test on just HDMI cables and the 5 dollar ones don't preform better than the 50 dollar ones. At least not to the human eye.

OK, sounds like any converter would do--now you did mean, "the 50 dollar ones don't perform better than the 5 dollar ones," right?

Right. Arie explained it better and even provided a link to look at.

I sure would avoid the cheapest, just because you may not be able to trust the quality of the construction (poor soldering and/or lousy crimping, for example). But I certainly would avoid the most expensive too.

You do need to make sure you get the right cable, however. Generally, there are Standard, Standard with Ethernet, High Speed, and High Speed with Ethernet. The price difference between standard and high speed are typically negligible. So go for the high speed versions. Other than that, avoid the marketing hype.

I have found the AmazonBasics High-Speed HDMI cables to be great! And clearly very affordable. I use these between my 4K OLED TV and Blue-ray player and my A/V receiver and have never experienced any problems. I like the fact they have a 3 foot version too. I just wish they had a 4ft. Oh well.

Just to be sure, to run an Amazon firestick TV on an older composite TV, I would need an HDMI to Composite converter, correct? I have seen that they have converters that go from either to the other--I want to make sure I get the right kind.
