My Caps Lock key no longer works. The only way to get a sentence of CAPS is by holding the shift key down It didn't use to be that way. I have followed a lot of Google reports but none have worked. Any ideas I can try ?

    Try a different keyboard.

Also, turn the keyboard upside down and gently tap the edge of the keyboard on to the edge of your desk to dislodge any cookie and potato chip crumbs that might be stuck under the key(s).

You can still try a different keyboard - an external keyboard.

Not sure I want to go to the expense of buying an external keyboard just to see if it works, was hoping it would be an internal problem to which there might be a solution. Besides no room on my laptop table for another keyboard. Thanks anyway Bill,

What is the Model and specs for your Acer laptop?
Why not use the keyboard from your comp shown in your Profile?
I would use the keyboard on my lap just to test.;)

You can download the service manual, remove the keyboard, clean and reinstall. It may or may not fix it. No matter, you will now have experience removing & reinstalling because you'll have to order a replacement keyboard. I had to replace the keyboard on my son's Acer laptop because a key or two stopped working. The metal contacts on keyboards are very thin and sometimes wear out because they are made from Chinesium.

What retiredlearner said. Or Just temporarily borrow one from a friend or relative.

That said, it looks like Walmart Canada has one for just $10. It is nice to have a spare keyboard on hand, just for testing and troubleshooting purposes.
