My first step would be to verify that the HDD has not gone to see its maker. During startup, I assume that hitting the "DEL" button will bring you into BIOS. (Which button to hit should be shown on the POST screen.) I know nothing about the Foxconn BIOS structure but somewhere the connected drives are listed.

Are you sure? I cannot remember seeing a "Pilot Light" on my comps.
Are you referring to the Monitor?
Do you have any noises when you push the start button? Fans? POST?
It could just be your start button gone south.

Thanks for your reply. No noises, no fans, no monitor output of course, just a tiny light on the front of the pc to show that power is supplied.

If you have changed the power supply and verified that it's working, then with no POST (Power On Self Test) it seems like the motherboard is dead. The backup battery on the motherboard, if "empty" would not prevent the motherboard from working, just prevent it from keeping the settings.

Have you checked your ATX connector on the Motherboard? Is it clean and making good contact? Any sign of burning on these contacts? Is it 20 pin or 24 pin? Does it have a separate 4/8 pin board connector?
