Windows Experience Index dropped with ram upgrade

I just upgraded the ram in my HP Probook from 4GB PC3-10600 to 8GB PC3L-12800 and although the ram score increased from 5.9 to 7.2, the Graphics score dropped from 4.2 to 4.0. Any idea why?

 

Windows Experience Index was not that reliable. But that's only my opinion

 

I think it more a fact than opinion. For one, it was never intended to be used as a benchmark, yet people treated it that way. And that caused lots of confusion. For that reason, Microsoft removed it from later versions of Windows.

I don't know why your graphics score dropped. When you added more RAM, my guess is the system stole... err... is "sharing" more system RAM for graphics processing than it was when 4GB was installed. And perhaps now, compared to other systems running with 8GB of RAM, it does not compare as favorably. Either way, I would not worry about it.

 

But it's misleading at best. No need to use it or give any credence to its results.

 

Thanks for your thoughts, guys. I'm not concerned about the lower score, just curious. I just didn't expect that result from an increase in size and speed of the ram modules.

 

Yeah, I knew that but as rsinfo noted, it is still very misleading. I should have been more clear, however. They did not remove it, just, as you noted, buried it.
