Speed up fresh Windows 7 install

    If you have to reinstall Windows 7 and don't want to wait hours or forever while it is looking for updates, follow this:

    If you install Windows 7, and it asks whether it should do auto-updates, choose ask later.

    Once Windows is installed, install these updates (in order):
    1. KB3177467, Servicing Stack Update - September 20 2016
    2. KB3125574, Convenience Rollup Update for SP1 - May 2016
    3. KB4022719, the latest Update Rollup - June 2017
    After these you can manually run Windows Update. Please reinstall the remaining (56) updates in 2 or 3 batches.

    Should you wish to install language packs, install these after the Servicing Stack Update.

    Download KB3177467 9.1 MB or 4.0 MB. I take it 9.1 MB
