Attempted to boot to safe mode, now machine won't even begin to boot up. Power light & machine hums up, CD disc spins, but all steps and power light stays on and nothing else happens.
Win 10, 12 gig RAM, Dell Inspiron.

Tried a Win 10 ISO disc, nothing happens.

    :-(

Hi chaosrn. Can you get into the system's BIOS/UEFI menu? If you open up the case, do any of the fans spin when you power on the system? Do you hear any beeps?

Can't get anything on screen. No beeps, fan motor runs, D:/ drive spins but the win 10 ISO doesn't do anything

What procedure did you use to enter Safe Mode?

run -> MSCONFIG -> boot to safe mode -> Okay (not apply) -> restart
(after multiple attempts of not getting to safe mode with "F5" during boot up [as per the Microsoft website {can't recall the exact page on their site, but it was treed off of one of the help pages} ] )

Is the computer the same one listed in your system details in your profile?

okay, so i'm not too sure what i did, but here is the sequence of events.
I figured one of the pieces of hardware died inside the box. I started by removing the USB 3 card (4 ports), and then I pulled the graphics card.
not sure what possessed me, but I powered up with the monitor connected too the OEM (hardwired to motherboard) video port. and all of a sudden it booted up and ran a diagnostics !
that finishing, i rebooted, ran a defrag, rebooted, installed the USB card, rebooted, installed the video card and rebooted again.
before i do ANYTHING else, i am backing up my files, (as it has been at least two months since the last back up.
I will be back, because there are still some bugs, in the hardware operation.....
    thanks for the help....
not marking this as resolved YET !

So it looks like whatever I did got me over the glitch, and all seems to be running again, everything has been backed up and I will faithfully continue to do so (or at least until I get complacent again).
Thank you all for the assist

Remember the SAFE MODE entry is different when next you use it. ;)
