Hi, I have been putting all my (well nearly all) my music files onto a new 1TB WD My Passport external drive.
All in one Folder I will use my Logitech Squeezbox for streaming it into my family room, but that is not the issue at the moment.
What I would like to know is, can I put that folder on share and will all the sub folders with a combined 200GB of music files be open to the network. Can a Public Folder do that, can a existing folder be made a public folder.
Point is I just would like to share 1 Folder with dozens of sub folders inside, can that be done, if yes anyone game enough to tell me how.

    Should be straightforward enough .....
Connect the My Passport to the PC and in File Explorer right click on the drive > Share with > Advanced Sharing
In the Properties window which opens click on Advanced Sharing
In the Advanced Sharing window put a check mark in Share this Folder
Under Settings insert a share name - the drive letter is there by default
Then click on Permissions - Everyone is inserted by default and the default permission is Read - that may be all you need, but Full Control is also available
OK out and you should be set to go.

Thanks Pete, long time since our last contact, hope your well.
Would that include files being added as I add to content more music files.

Fine thanks - you are sharing the drive in total so any files added are part of the share.

If you share a single folder the sub folders are included in the share. Any files added to the main folder and it's sub folders are part of the share.
