I am trying to update my Laptop. On running Windows Update, I am getting error
    0x8024402.

I searched the net for the resolution and the most common remedy was switching on/off "Give me Updates for other Microsoft products when I update Windows ". I have tried that but I am still getting this error. Any ideas ?

Most of the workarounds are not applicable in my case. I am not behind ISA server or on VPN.

Checked the proxy settings in IE. Still not working.

The error was on my part.

I had blocked all url's containing "ad. " on my firewall to get rid of the ads. This blocked all urls containing this phrase including the Windows update servers. Now I have removed it and everything is fine :)

Whoops! :oops:o_O You'll need a little book like me to record changes you make because we've learned so much during our lifetime, we haven't any RAM left. ;) Neil.
