Upgrade to Windows 10 Anniversary Update

    The Windows 10 Anniversary Update (Ver. 1607) is available, but you will need to install it first. Just like the Windows 10 November Update, Microsoft will be distributing the upgrade in a staggered way, but you can 'jump the queue' so to speak:

    If you are running Windows 10, 1507 or 1511, click Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update then click Check for Updates. Wait while Windows Update scans for the latest updates. Windows 10 Anniversary Update should be presented to you as an available update. Wait while the download completes.

    If that doesn't work, click Learn more just below the “Looking for info on the latest updates? In Windows Update.

    From there you’ll be taken to a support page on Microsoft.com where you can start the update.

    Tried install anniversary update. It loaded and installed, but did not complete, showing Error 0x80070057. Window 10 update was installed from Windows 7 Premium.

    Save this in Notepad as wu.reg and then run the file, or manually add the keys:

    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsUpdate\UX]
 "IsConvergedUpdateStackEnabled "=dword:00000000

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsUpdate\UX\Settings]
 "UxOption "=dword:00000000
    (Do not copy the word code)

    Reboot & try again.

    Just upgraded to version 1607 on HP notebook and all up it took 1 hour 20 minutes. No problems. I'm now off to bed.

    Currently downloading to HP laptop, but concerned that there may be issues with my Asus Transformer Netbook which has only ~7 GB free on the 29GB SSD. Time will tell :)

    Bring up the start menu and type Notepad...

    In Notepad was saved as wu.reg, clicking fails to open as an error.

    Save the reg file from Notepad as wu.reg to your desktop, right click on it > Merge

    Carried out instruction. X Registry Editor..... Cannot import: C\Users\Robert\Desktop\wu.reg: Specified file is not a registry scrip ....................

    I use Start > All Apps > Windows Accessories > Notepad - works for me.o_O;)Neil.

    Just upgraded my main comp to Anniversary version and it was all done in 50 minutes. Hope users adjust to the subtle changes. o_O;) Neil.

    Two of my pc's took 1hr 10min. Using the ISO dl. I am glad to see several things fixed added to settings. Painless :)
