How do I stop Desktop Icons from rearranging every time I restart? I get the desktop looking how I want it and after I shutdown or restart the icons all move to the left.

Right-click on Desktop and then click on "View "

Have you checked the option "Align to Grid ", rather than "Auto arrange icons "

Also, once you re-arrange them the way you like, right click on a blank space on your desktop and select "Refresh ". You should see all your icons flash once, and [hopefully!] stay where you put them. They should then remain in that location after you restart/boot your computer.

After a couple of restarts it started happening again. So I gave up. This morning my icons spread themselves out over the desktop, bothe vertically and horizontally. I put them back together and found a lot were missing - obviously because they spread out a lot went off screen. I re-checked the auto arrange box and they came back. I don't need a reply on this unless someone has an answer for the desktop not being saved. I have looked at other posts on this such as the one with changed registry keys but they were already set as suggested.
