Basically, i still use windows live mail 2012 (desktop) for all my email.

i have been checking my email on my browser as my main computer crashed and i just got around to playing with the desktop client today

it gave me *no* warning that things were changing. i literaly logged in and the loading screen popped up. if they had i would have said no and just not checked in browser again.

ive toyed with getting outlook 2016, which looks like they ripped off windows live mail desktop and want people to pay for it pretty much (i know its all microsoft and not a rip off, but you know what i mean).

but what im worried about with that is the cleartype and the inability to turn it off... which is what i was originally looking for when i came across this new information

(i hate cleartype. i have bad eyes as it is and it just makes words more blurry. ive fine tuned and everything but i prefer it not existing)

any way i can get the program ive been using for years to work properly again?

i am currently trying out outlook 2016, theres a month free available.

to my suprise its not forcing cleartype on me, which is great.

I was just wondering if anyone knows of any way to ditch the obnoxiously large headers shown when using the preview pane? The same info can be seen on the highlighted email above, and the reply etc buttons are available up at the top. it takes up a rediculous amount of screen space on a smaller screen like ive got.

In windows live mail desktop, you could remove them. its weird that they would take away features, rather than add them

It is not possible to remove the header in the Preview Pane in Outlook 2016 - or any earlier version AFAIK ......

Reduce size of message preview pane header in Outlook 2016

You could collapse the ribbon, although that would not make too much difference. The header seems reasonable though, imho.

im working on a small screen, 15 "... it takes up a good 2-3 inches (up and down) of my small screen for info thats easily available above the preview pane... it seems pointless... the reply and such buttons included are also available at the top. seems like a waste of space, to me anyway :/
