The free apps from Windows store which were pre-installed stopped working when I restored Windows. I uninstalled the apps and tried to reinstall them using the following command in Powershell (ADMIn):

    Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers| Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml "}

But that and other measures I used haven't yielded any result. Help!

What was the reason for restoring Windows and what process was used? Neil.

For some reason Windows crashed and I used Restore as a way of getting back into the computer.

Have you tried WU to get them renewed/replaced? Try shutting down completely and doing a normal Start > Settings > WU and repeat a couple of times to see if Windows stabilizes. Neil.

you have a space missing after AllUsers:

But from what I've read, most of the time this will not work.

    You could try this:

    • Right click on start and click Run.
    • In the Run window, type WSReset.exe and click Ok.

If not, you'll probably have to reinstall Windows 10

The error message when I run WSReset.exe says: "You will need a new app to open this ms-windows-store "

I tried this MS link, retiredlearner: On the one hand: I got this rundown:
    Run
Downloading Microsoft solutions engine to your PC
    Starting Microsoft solutions engine
Verifying that this solution applies to your PC...
Confirmed that this solution applies to your PC
Running the solution on your PC...
The solution finished running on your PC
    The solution worked as expected
Removing the solutions engine from your PC
    Finished
But on the other hand there was an error message with the command screen in the background saying this will only work with Windows Store App.

And I looked in the apps on Start and there is no indication of the Store App anywhere.

Neil, I am trying to reinstall the windows 10. I tried first by downloading into a media; but that wouldn't let me reinstall as it says "remove the media and start windows normally; reinsert the media then and restart." Which did not go anywhere.

Now I am downloading the Windows 10 again to reinstall it on "this pc" instead of making a media from it.

When I try to reinstall I get this message again and again: win 10 setup compatibility report: "The computer started using installation media. Remove the installation media and restart your computer so that windows starts normally. Then insert the installation media and restart the upgrade. "

And I can't install it from setup on dvd drive either, because of the error: "Setup cannot start properly. "

And F8 does not work on windows 10. It's somehow disabled.

Neil: I tried to run the Windows Update from the settings panel. I get the repeated message that "Upgrade to Windows 10 Home, version 1511, 10586 failed." I am running the Windows Update troubleshooter and it got stuck in "Starting Bits Service. "

It later corrected the errors. But the Updating still ran into a problem.

This is a significant problem: After my failed restore, .net frame seems to have messed up Turbo Tax. I can't open it now, and I can't reinstall it, because it seems that .net frame 4.5 has to be reinstalled and I can only do that Via Windows Update. Any help as to fix the update tool?

I tried microsoft windows update troubleshooter. It appears to fix things; but then I am back to the same "Retry" button on the update too.
