Resolved Seagate doesn't spin in enclosure, but does when connected to laptop

    Is your External enclosure powered?
    If it only has a USB connector - there may not be enough voltage to supply the HDD. Neil.

    Or the USB port the enclosure is connected to is not a powered USB port. Try a different port.
