By nagging the end-user, to no end, to install Windows 10.

My brother is not PC illiterate, but he had to call me to put a stop to the intrusive Windows 10 popup, etc. That is called intrusiveness in my book, and my brother certainly agreed as much.

Worse yet, is the attempt by Microsoft (in my opinion) to create a product that more-resembles smart phone software than a Windows product - including loss of privacy, and making it harder to protect ones data (from Microsoft). Last, but not least, is the forced updates policy regarding the free version of Windows 10. There is *no* way to opt out of this that I know of - unless someone has found a hack for it.

Now, I like Windows, and I'll have to install 10, someday, if I want to stay fully secure, but in the mean time, I hope that there will be enough backlash to force Microsoft get back to the basics and respect our privacy/freedoms. Either that, or maybe some other company will introduce a user-friendly Windows alternative that I can switch to.

Funny, but my wife hasn't had any nagging on her comp. If this was a major problem - millions would be complaining.

I am pretty sure that Microsoft is attempting to make it's way into the Mobile phone market with w10. They also are trying to make things more secure with the new upgrade. All pop ups can be disabled.

    Hi Neil,
That, if you happen to believe what they say, with their reputation, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Neil, congrats to the Kiwis, World Cup, and Melbourne Cup Kiwi Horse.:D:D:D

I have considered a windows phone since they mostly only have monster size screen phones out now and am due for a upgrade. Unfortunately I am partial to Androids (Loyd) and only want a 4 inch screen. We will see what the future holds tho. I would like to play with one longer than just in a demo store version.

MasterChief, I am the owner of a Nokia Lumia920 Windows Phone 5" by 2.5" Windows 8.1 just right for me, I would not change it no way.
My wifie has one of them stupid IPhones I just hate them, a million times to much rubbish on it Windows offers plenty of Apps for anything that you really need, so much more functional, to me and that of course is personal I am not to keen on Android, I do also have a el'çheapo Android phone I only use for when we overseas with a Travel Sim.
Why not buy a cheap Nokia on ebay and use it for a few month before deciding on a good one. My Lumia 920 is now about 3 or 4 years old and I never had as much as 1 hiccup.
WARNING: This is the opinion of a biased Windows Phone user.

Yes hawk22, I do agree with you on the iphone situation. They are very user unfriendly to beginners. I will never go there since there is no back or menu button. I would like to play with a windows phone, I may consider the ebay option for fun. I have been waiting to see what Windows is gonna do with 10 on them. I am curious as to wether you can install and play movie files .avi, .m4v, mp4 and .mkv's on a windows phone.

Bil, Thanks for your thoughts on the NZ wins. We don't do too bad for a country with only 4.5 million pop.
Re the phones. I have upgraded this year from Huawei Smart phones to Samsung Galaxy S4. Both systems run Android and 1 Galaxy has KitKat (4.4.2) and the other has Lollipop (5.0.1). 64GB's Micro SD storage plus 16GB internal and 13MP cameras!! 2 GHz CPU - it's another comp.
MasterChief, I couldn't afford Apple gear and I certainly can get a Menu and Cancel out of Apps/Programs with my Android phones.
I see there is a world-wide scam offering iPhone 6 for $1 which is causing quite a problem. Many who couldn't normally purchase an Apple device are getting caught.
MS promise to ask first must be working and I trust them as my wife is still happy with W8.1 Pro. and has not been nagged or asked to install W10 yet. Neil.

Thanks for the link hawk22. Very informative and that blew the wp right off the radar map. I will not be spending my days converting videos just to watch them. Android rules as it will play most all formats with no conversion needed.
I like to be able to watch stuff when traveling or waiting in the doctors office. :D

Neil, My Travel Phone is a Huawei using Android, so I know how Android works, but for straight out functionality efficiency simple straight forward, you just can not go past windows phone. I also know a little bit about my wifes IPhone since I had to teach her and I just hate it.

This has nothing to do with the original question/comment.
