    I am using Outlook 2010 with O/S windows 8.1
My ISP is time warner cable and am using two email addresses with my default being a gmail address. I have configured my gmail in outlook as a pop3 account.
I can send and receive except to those with an embarqmail address. this has just started recently and the emails being rejected are to people with whom I was able to email without issue.

here is the returned message: (and I've called TWC...they say it's an outlook problem and not a time warner ISP problem)
this sounds like an embarqmail problem??? any help would be appreciated.

Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:

    xxxxxxxxx@embarqmail.com

    Technical details of permanent failure:
Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the server for the recipient domain embarqmail.com by mx.centurylink.net. [205.219.233.5].

The error that the other server returned was:
554 5.7.1 [P4] Message blocked due to spam content in the message

When translated-> server for the recipient domain embarqmail.com REJECTED the mail..

    You'll have to contact them.

What was in the emails you sent? Where there any attachments, URL's or photos embedded?

I thought of contacting embarqmail (century link) however I don't know if the message coming from TWC has something that causes the mail to look like spam. have called TWC and will probably call again. if that doesn't work will def call cent link.
mail in html format in outlook with no attachments, urls or photos embedded. just notification that website I do for nonprofit was updated.
    thanks for your help!

thank you. and btw I contacted TWC again and they gave me updated server settings for outlook but message to embarqmail customer still returned! thanks again for your help.
one other question...if messages not returned when sent directly from gmail what could be the issue in outlook making messages look like spam for a mere text message?

Anyone that receives emails almost anywhere can use the "Report as Spam" option while viewing emails on line... After one or more of those reports you/or any sender get blacklisted.

So it doesn't matter if the mail is sent via Outlook or online at Gmail.com ...

When you send email from Gmail, your email address ends in @gmail.com.

When you send email from Outlook, your email address ends in @embarqmail.com.

Embarqmail.com may be blocked/blacklisted by the receiver's ISP or email program.

thank you for your comments. To Steve Jones: what you say makes sense. I've been reporting more items as spam because i'm suddenly getting a lot. none of them though are from embarqmail.
To spywaredr embarqmail customers are blocked from receiving any of my mail from TWC but what you said means whether I send from gmail or twc each extension is the same and is ec.rr.com.
I've yet to tackle calling embarqmail because wading thru the quagmire of finding someone that can help can be time consuming. thanks again.

The message is failing because the mx.centurylink.net server is rejecting it.
It is not an Outlook problem nor is it a problem with your ISP.

You or your friend with the embarqmail account will have to contact century.net and find out why they are flagging the message as spam.

The contents of your message probably contains a quantity of certain words or combinations of words that get it flagged as spam.

    possibility but doubtful.
here is a transcript of one message that was rejected:
    Checking email….again…thanks!
no attachments or photos embedded. I'm calling TWC one more time because I think it's the ec.rr.com part of the header that is causing the return. when there is gmail.oom as the extension no problem.
    thanks again for everyones help.

Compose a brand new message using the account that gets it returned to you & send it. Then go to Sent folder and open the message in Outlook. Then post the FULL headers of the message here. In this way we can determine if Outlook is configured properly. Note: replace real usernames in the email addresses with xxxxx.

I spoke with TWC third tier support and was told my IP was blocked/blacklisted for sending too many emails. I sent a handful. they're saying the limit of 50 in 5 minutes was exceeded. TWC was able to fix something on their end because when I did a chat with them on 10/8 and the problem was reported to a supervisor the day after I was able to send 1 or 2 emails to embarqmail and then blocked again. I'm doing a deep scan using Kaspersky on email. also thought about using Malwarebytes???
what i'd really like to do is install VPN. thanks for all your help!

That's the header of the "failed message" from gmail.
Post the header of the email you try to send to your-friend@embarqmail.com.
    Follow my instructions:
