A total of six security bulletins, addressing 8 vulnerabilities that resolve security related issues in Internet Explorer and Microsoft Windows have been released this month, as well as another three security bulletins addressing multiple vulnerabilities in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Server Software, and Productivity Software.

Three bulletins received the maximum severity rating of critical, the highest rating available for vulnerabilities, while the remaining six received the 'important' rating, the second highest rating available.

Does anybody know why KB2825635 (security update for Office 2010) was offered to Office 2007 users?

Maybe for compatibility reasons James. If you run Word 2003, you have to use the 2007 compat pack - so I would imagine we who use 2007 need the 2010 compat pack and Security Patches for same. Neil.

I don't think there is such a thing.

The Microsoft® Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel®, and PowerPoint® 2007 File Formats

applies to Office versions prior to 2007 but in later Office versions, the file format is the same as in 2007.

I'm running Office 2007 (32 bit) on Windows 7 (64 bit) and KB2825635 was not offered to my system.

    Check for clues in KB2825635

I looked in Windows 7 Program Files (x86), and I saw a folder named Office 14, which, evidently, relates to Office 2010 according to Google. None of the five files in the Office 14 folder are dated for this month (May), and the 14 folder, itself, appears to have been installed when I installed Office 2007 according to its properties.

The same situation repeated itself in XP.

I don't know why the Office 14 folder would appear to be a part of Office 2007.

Thanks, Neil, I'll check it out.

It appears I'm not alone in this issue...

DSL Reports forum had a thread about this, too, but I can't find it at the moment.

    EDIT: Here is the link...
