I put in a winTV HVR1800 Digital TV Tuner Card in my computer. I installed the "Driver Software" CD and updated from the website.

Afterwords, there is no program to watch TV with. Nothing shows anywhere.
My last TV card had an icon that started the TV watching. Here, there is nothing. My card shows up in Device Manager as installed and working good, just don't have anyway to watch it.

How is it I installed the software, but nothing shows anywhere?

    Thank you,
    Chris.

Thank you for the link to the software, but I already downloaded it.
It does show up in add/remove programs, but I can't use it because there is nothing to use.
No icon, not in start/all programs, nothing.

    Chris.

Go and search Program Files for the name of your installed program. Once you find the correct folder, see if there is a program launcher available. The correct file will be an executable with .exe for a file extension - although there may be more than one of those, so be careful what you click on. I know that's easier said than done, but outside of contacting company support, I don't what else to suggest unless someone else has a better idea. If you do find the program launcher, right-click on the file and select: Send To > Desktop (create a shortcut).

Is it possible that your card's interface is controlled by Windows Media Player?

EDIT: I downloaded the help file and copied the instructions for launching the player...

    The WinTV-Application
After the installation of the software from the CD-ROM you will see the shortcut "Hauppauge
WinTV" in the Windows Start menu and on your desktop. To start the WinTV application
double left click on your mouse button.

Look for a folder in Program Files named Hauppauge or WinTV. The program launcher should be there. If not, you may have to reinstall the program / driver. Is it possible that the driver and program are two separate files on the CD? If so, maybe you need to explore the CD and look for the program file.

I guess the "Driver Software" that's "Digital/Analog TV Tuner" is not the right CD. It asked for the "Original CD ".

I have a SSD drive, it only takes seconds to boot up. With this card in, it takes 4 1/2 minutes to boot up.

    Thank you,
    Chris.

Hi happydog500, Please take the time to fill in your UserCP > System Details. I have no idea what OS you are running or what your hardware is in your comp.
We can Help more if we know these details.
When you have entered the info - don't forget to scroll to the bottom of the page and SAVE before closing.

I had it in there, it just wasn't showing. Switched to No to Yes.

I would suggest from your problem description that the card may be faulty. Can you try it in another slot? Or another comp? Neil.

If it was the card, the software would show up. The problem is there is no software.
