That option is available on XP's version of Windows Movie Maker (tools / video effects).

Windows Essentials has a movie maker program, but I have yet to install it, so I can't comment on whether it will flip movies or not.

EDIT: Actually, I think it will flip movies...

I tried it and it does flip the video 90 degrees as needed but it seems to make it smaller.

I have the same problem with photos.

Does you camera maker have any proprietary software to deal with issues like this?

It came from someone's cell phone onto a laptop then USB stick and then onto computer.

Have you tried right-clicking on the video as it plays in Media Player and choosing video options?

Those settings don't seem to make a difference in my video.

I'm sorry, I meant to quote your # 3 post...

I was wondering if Media Player's video settings would enlarge the movie after it's already been rotated 90 degrees. Some video players offer a widescreen mode such as the one from Intervideo (Corel), but the one I have costs 15.00 (Xpack)

I believe you are looking for VLC Media Player
You can find the rotate option at Tools\Effects and Filters, then click on Video Effects and then choose Geometry.

Will Geometry allow me to resize the MP4 itself or just the window it plays in?

With VLC you can rotate the video AND save it that way.

I tried VLC and managed to rotate the video. It is still smaller than the video playback sideways but bigger than it was with movie maker rotation. Thanks.
