I am in the process of moving data from my old windows XP Computer to a new Windows 8.1 computer.
For some reason, I can't get my keyboard to operate.....It will just not type.
I have it hooked up the same as I had it before.

    Any suggestions will be appreciated.

    Thanks

    edited to show Windows 8.1

Have you had a look in BIOS to enable keyboard?
It would help if you took the time to fill in your System Details in UserCP. Don't forget to scroll to the bottom and SAVE before closing. Neil.

So, your W8.1 computer did work fine, right? And now, suddenly, the keyboard does not work? And nothing changed?

    Hi Neil,
    Thanks for the reply.
I am not that familiar with the BIOS. Where would I look to enable the keyboard?

What is the make and model of the Win 8.1 computer? Is the keyboard compatible with win 8.1? Does the keyboard work if you reconnect it to the Win XP computer?

Hi jslow, Sorry I didn't get back earlier. My Award BIOS shows keyboard enable in Power Management. It may not be in all BIOS setups.
Your keyboard will be in Device Manager and it's worth disabling in there and Shut down and Reboot and let Windows reload the software to see if that sets it back again. Neil.

    Look in Device Manager

Go to Device Manager, and click on 'Keyboards'. There may be a listing of the keyboard you are using. If it's listed, but there is a yellow mark next to it, you may have to install the correct driver for it. If it is not listed, there may be no driver installed. In either case, go to the keyboard manufacturer's website, and download the latest driver for Windows 8.1 Pick the one that matches your operating system...either 32 bit, or 64 bit. If it has a USB connection, try plugging it into a USB socket at the back of the computer. If it still doesn't work, try a different socket.
