Recently changed OS from XP to Windows 7, all working well until I decided to email a photo to my email address as a test.
Took over 11 minutes, colour photo, 200mm x 100mm. downloaded Nikon driver before trying the email test.
What should I be looking for please ?.
And a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all.

He mentioned it took 11 minutes...

What is the "size" for the photo in bytes?
Try sending the same file to friend that uses a different ISP than you do.

Answers, The 'Download' from attachment was 11minutes.
The 'Upload' camera memory card to 'My Pictures' on computer 20 minutes for 22 images.
The average Byte size is 4.7 (4.990.17)
Camera is Nikon Coolpix 8700, not sure if driver is compatible with W7.
Thanks for response and Merry Christmas.

I'm referring to the amount of time it took to upload your test photo to your email server.

Answer to James Martin, 'it uploaded to ISP straight away'
However, on checking the 'attachment' on the email to myself I noticed the image started as if it was going to be bigger than the monitor screen, only a small section of the image on the whole screen to start with then it flicked to the whole image of a proper size.
I tried another test on another photo sending it to me as an attachment, the image took 59 sec to transfer from 'my pictures' to the email, its size was shown as 4.6 mb.
Downloading the 'attachment' (image) took only seconds but showed a size of 6.3 mb.
I will now try to send it to my son who has a different ISP, as Steve R Jones suggested.
Could the image be transferring at too large a size?, if so , how do I stop this happening ?.

    Hi Spanner,
You don't say what format your picture was in jpeg, tiff, psd? The byte size is important as some Isps will hiccup at 6 mb. To me 6mb is far too much for an image of 200 x 100mm so it must be much larger at it's native resolution and should be resized for e-mail purposes.

I mailed a 2.33Mb size photo to myself, and when it downloaded, the size was the same as before.

Your images are rather large in my opinion. My 2.33Mb size photo was taken from 35mm film, although digital camera images can be even larger depending on the camera's resolution setting.

Most every time I mail a photo, Windows / Outlook gives me various sizing options ranging from small to original. I'm at a loss as to why your images are downloading bigger than they uploaded. Maybe a call to your ISP would shed some light on this. Are you uploading attachments to an email service, or are you composing the message and attaching photos from within a POP 3 client?

Spanner, which email provider are you using to send this photograph? E.g. Gmail, Outlook.com (NOT Outlook software.) etc.
