Hi .... What would you recommend a good burning software ? I see imgburn and power.iso both seem to have bugs once you load them , So those 2 would be out . Any suggestions ? Thx

Hi Smart86, What did you want to burn?
My daughter wanted a copy of Christmas Carols for her family the other day, so I Ripped it and Burned to a CD all with Windows Media Player which is in W8.1
I have Cyberlink Power 2Go which is packaged with the Motherboard CD and I've Downloaded ImgBurn and Nero 12/13 is on the CD driver that came with my DVD player. Neil.
    P.S. Have a look in http://www.filehippo.com/

Doesn't Windows 8 come with its own file burning software? (I'm not referring to Media Player)

I have 2 DVD players installed in my comp. One Asus and the other is a Samsung. They come with all the necessary software for burning (incorporated in the CD Driver) and when I used WMP, it just worked seamlessly.
I think that most suggestions I've read involve downloading the Codecs Pack and use any software of your choice. Vlc, Nero, ImgBurn etc. Neil.

James, I think W8/8.1 doesn't have any built in burning program.

I've been using Ashampoo Free version for several years with XP, Vista, and 7 and have been very happy with it. https://www.ashampoo.com/en/usd/pin/7110/Burning_Software/Ashampoo-Burning-Studio-FREE They offer a "pro" version but I have never tried it. Although the web site only shows Windows 8 compatibility, I checked the FAQ and it states that any of their products that are 8 compatible are also 8.1 compatible.

I can't recall if "extras" are included in the download/install process but I don't recall any problems.

In Windows 8 one can right click an ISO file and:
    - Mount it as a virtual drive & eject it to unmount it.
    - Burn it to CD or DVD.

Didn't know 8 does that , thanks . I never really looked into it because I had always used imgburn . Though, I don't burn much nowadays and imgburn always did what I needed . Malwarebytes pick up > PUP.Optional.OpenCandy > Potentially Unwanted Program . Whether its harmful or not it did make my mouse act funny . Thanks for all the help , I did get a clean copy of Power.iso
