Hi elcajongunsfan. Try uninstalling the mouse from Device Manager, reboot the computer and then allow Windows to reinstall the device.

If that does not work then try plugging the mouse into an available USB port and see if that helps.

You're saying stop using PS/2 and use USB only?

There is an IRQ conflict going on with the mouse so see if uninstalling the mouse through Device Manager solves the problem. If not then yes use a USB port for the mouse and see if that resolves the conflict.

I looked at all my other computers and they also use Interrupt 12. I'll have to live with this for awhile because the mouse is a PS/2. Maybe go down and buy a USB mouse

Don't matter what all your other computers are doing. They don't have a problem. Did you try uninstalling the mouse like Evan suggested?

    What OS are you operating?
I would suggest running sfc /scannow to see if that will help. Neil.

In my experience with 7 x64 Pro you don't need one.

Yup..I installed a USB Microsoft Mouse and IRQ 12 disappeared. So I have to assume the PS/2 was conflicting with the motherboard resources

Interesting issue--thanks to all who participated

Reboot the machine. Take out the USB Mouse and then put the other one back in. Then see what happens. May or may not have to reboot.

FWIW you should not detach/attach PS/2 with the PC booted up.
