I want to text someone from my web email account. I remember I did this a few years a go in Yahoo. I haven't used my yahoo web account and now they took my account away.

I went to set up a new account and it won't let me without a mobile phone.
I don't have one right now. Can't believe yahoo won't let anyone sign up without a mobile phone.
Any way to get around this? I can't put in a fake one because this is a number they use in case I get locked out.

Does gmail or outlook mail do the email to text?

    Chris.

aka - always remember your username and password.

I go to my Verizon's account page and send texts from there if needed.

I have Verizon Wireless. I have never tried you method. Very interesting article. If you use Verizon to text from your computer does it use one of text messages as if you used you mobiler phone(i.e. 250-1=249).

Yes. All text messages have to go through Verizon's system to get to your phone.

Thank you for this. I will try and see what happens and post back. How would the person text back? In yahoo I could get texts like chating but it was texting back and forth to a phone.

The link way didn't work for me. I put a mobile number and was able to create a new profile. I was able to send texts to cell phones and back in yahoo mail.

    Thank you,
    Chris.

In the last few years, I have heard people complaining about all the changes that Yahoo Mail has done and don't like many of them. Maybe they changed it so you can't do it. When I had AT&T, I could do it thru their site and there was no charge. I had text blocked by AT&T because of idiots texting all the time and most of the time it was like spam text. The only one who could text me was AT&T.
