While surfing, my mouse's back button and IE's back arrow don't get me back to the previous page. Right clicking the back arrow usually lists a number of identical URLs which go nowhere. Here's a sample. There can be dozens of them.

    http://googleads.g.doubleclick.net/page

Clicking on it from the back arrow drop down list has no affect. Clicking on it here takes it to a Google error page. Anyone else have this problem?

I should add that, in some cases, the URL I want to get back to is sometimes in the drop down list but there have been instances where there were too many bad URLs to get through.

Are you sure that you are clean of Viruses and Spyware/Malware? Sounds like you are getting redirects that you don't know about from someplace.

  3. to hide this advert.

The identical URL's you refer to are the individual adverts on the page - there can be many of them.

Have you tried a Reset of IE?

I have determined that the culprit URLs are from adverts on the website page. Resetting IE didn't help.

Does the back arrow work on most sites?

Sites can be designed to NOT Allow back buttons etc. Its a sneaky way to keep you on their site longer.

Yes, it works on most sites. I'm going to keep a record of the offending sites.

Some of the sites that it don't work on, you can right click on the back button and then left click where you want to go.
