Screen goes black after dimming but not off

New Acer laptop goes black 1 minute after going to dim the screen mode no matter what time I set the screen to go off. But the black is not off it's like its still on. It will eventually go off at the set time. I've rebooted it to death and shut it down with no change.

I finally went to Bestbuy and talked the Geek Squad guys today. They suggested I go to Settings on the right then choose Change PC Settings then when it opens scroll the left down to General, on the right side scroll down to "Refresh your PC without affecting your Files" This did fix my problem. The only thing is it removes programs installed but not folders you created. It did wipe my chrome links but not the ones on my desktop. So put your important stuff in a folder. It took 20 to 30 minutes and all pc settings back to default.

If you had to do that, I would hand it back to them after I backed up everything and tell them to fix it. They took the easy route and didn't have to replace it in my opinion. That is the CROOK SQUAD for you.

 

Never buy a computer from Best Buy. Are you having trouble with the Best Buy software Yet. I bought a laptop from them a few years ago. I went through three laptops. All three had issues with the best buy software. They offered me a fourth laptop. I declined and told the manager three strikes you're out. They refunded my money. Now when I'm in the market for a new computer I buy directly from the manufacturer. Learned that one the hard way.

 

Since I received no answer to my post I had to get a solution to my problem and that was a very good solution IMO. I believe it was a windows 8 problem.

There is no Bestbuy software on this PC. I went thru that couple years ago and you can uninstall that anyway. Also check to see if the factory seal is or was broken cause they have ther own tape so look real close. Believe me I do not condone thr practices, I chewed them upa few years ago on one that was cracked open.
