    Hi
All of a sudden i am getting problems with IE 9 on a win7 machine displaying pages in a reasonable time without continually refreshing the page, the pages also seem to take some time to completely download.
I have tried scanning for Malware and viruses without any problems being reported, I have also tried Google Chrome but it was no better.
I have checked my internet speed and it is reported at about 8.10Mbps.
I have also tried a different modem with the same results, It appears to have happened all of a sudden and i am baffled what it could be, I have also checked that history and temp files are deleted on exit.
Google which is my homepage seems to normally load quickly it is just other pages which cause the problem, I have also tried using IE without any addons running but it make no difference.
It reminds me of the old dial up days of slow internet speeds but as already mentioned i appear to be getting 8.10Mbps

many thanks in advance for any replies.

Wow, you seem to have covered all the angles... :)

--> Have you tried using Firefox and seeing if there's any improvement? It seems unlkely (as you have tried a different browser, but you never know...

--> Adblock??? I know there's an excellent free one you can get on Firefox, but as I'm not on my computter at the moment, I can't seem to think of the name of it... Will edit when I'm back on my compuer...

    Ha! got it: http://adblockplus.org/en/firefox

I have tried using Safe mode with networking and the results are exactly the same, I have also tried connecting my spare laptop directly to the modem with an Ethernet cable and it also appears to be having similar problems, My wifes laptop connected by wireless is also having problems downloading pages so the problem seems to be affecting all our 3 computers, which would tend to suggest something common to all of them, maybe the Router,or telephone line or equipment at the telephone exchange although my broadband provider tells me they have checked the line and found no problems, I have also replaced the filter on the modems telephone cable with a brand new one but it has not helped,

You might temporarily try a different set of DMS servers, such as:

    8.8.8.8
    8.8.4.4

    (Google's free DNS servers)

This Microsoft "Change TCP/IP settings" page shows how to change the "Preferred DNS server" and "Alternate DNS server" settings. It's easy to change it back to the "auto" settings if it doesn't seem to help.

Filters are supposed to be on the PHONES only. Not the MODEM. The check that they did on the phone line isn't nearly as accurate as if a Tech came out to the house and checked it. Used to do that for a living. Have them come out and check.

As he said, the filter IS only on the phones:

Instead of using a filter for each phone you can use a single filter on the line (from the modem) that feeds all the phones.

"Modems " telephone cable don't sound like the phones to me.

If the phone company has the filter outside in the box on your house, you DO NOT need them on your phones.

The cable supplied with the modem can only be connected to the telephone line via a filter as the plug is the small type not the standard larger plug that connects directly into the telephone socket.
I have just tried my connection again and the speed seems almost back to normal with just a slight delay in pages loading they may have done something to the line or the equipment in the exchange. ( would you believe it an engineer is due to call this morning i will have a bit of a red face as the problem has almost disappeared )

Engineer has been and confirmed that an equipment reset was done at the exchange and that is probably the reason that the speed is now back to near normal, he also did a firmware update to the router and this has improved the speed very slightly.
Hopefully the problem is now solved !!
Thanks for all replies and suggestions.
