Tried to download iTunes on my XP desktop PC. Got the following msg: InstallScript engine is missing from this machine. If available, please run ISScript.msi, or contact your support personnel for further assistance.

My HP Pavilion a1224n is 6 years old. Do I have to talk to some HP agent in India or can you advise?

I need iTunes to be able to get DirecTV on my iPhone and maybe I want to download motionxgps maps program, too.

    Install Script Engine is missing

Here's what she means with a bit more detail:
    1. In Windows XP, click the "Start" button, click "Run ", type in:

      appwiz.cpl

and then press [Enter], (which will load "Add or Remove Programs ").

    2. In "Add or Remove Programs ", scroll down to and click "Itunes ", then click the "Remove" button.

    3. When that's done, scroll down to and click "QuickTime ", then click the "Remove" button.

    4. When that's done, close "Add or Remove Programs ".

    5. Run this Microsoft FixIt next.

    6. Download and install Itunes.

    7. Download and install QuickTime.
Now test Itunes and QuickTime to make sure they're working okay.

Thank you so much, this I understand!

I looked at MS FixIt and it said that it "removes bad Registry key on 64-bit operating systems." Before I do the 7 suggested steps, shouldn't I determine if I do have a 64-bit operating system? If so, how do I determine that? For some reason, I thought I had a 32-bit system.

To determine if you have the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows, click "Start ", right-click "Computer" and select "Properties ". On the "General" tab, if you see "x64" you're running the "64 "-bit version. (Example attached below).

If you're running the 32-bit version, go to this page Windows Installer 4.5 Redistributable and and install the "WindowsXP-KB942288-v3-x86.exe" program.

Thanks. It doesn't say anything about a bit version. It does say the capacity of my C drive is 178 GB. Now what?

    If it doesn't say x64, then you're running 32-bit.
