Had this problem before and now after re downloading Word 2002 again its back!!

This folder did have 'Search Enhancement Pack' on it managed to delete that but the blank folder still shows up on start up

Tried all the things I did before i.e. Control Panel .. its not listed there
Tried the Task Manager......... could not find Seaport.exe there to delete
    Tried regedit........................ did not work.

Every one seems to say its 'Windows Live' related but I have not got a Windows Live toolbar installed.

Be grateful of any suggestions please.

    What browser are you using?

Try this link. Make sure you write down what you disable and always reboot when you are asked to do so.

    kind regards,

This link that you provided is for testing purposes only. MS will even admit to that.
You should use a program like Mike Lin's Startup Control Panel or
CodeStuff Starter to do this with.

Tallin I have already tried that link with no success. Mr Bill I tried the Mike Lin one but could only get as far as the Tools page and then could not find the Manage page. My browser Internet Explorer. I think I am just going to have to live with this. Also did download CODE STUFF STARTER but could not find anything that said "Microsoft Files & folder" so was scared to delete anything that I was not sure about.I expect its under a different name. Thank you so much for all your help.

A little more reading here. CLICK and HERE
Doesn't look like it is harmful. Couple of different web pages suggest that it came with Windows Live if you have download that.

    Hi,

Just thought I would share with you the solution to get rid of the Microsoft annoying pop up that you helped me with. This is for Windows XP :-

    1. Click on Start
    2. Click onRun
    3. Type in MSCONFIG then OK
    4. Then select the 'Start Up' tab
    5. Then untick Wk Detect and reboot computer.

This worked for me and I thought you could use the knowledge to maybe help someone else with the same problem.

    Grateful thanks
