The only System Information I can find is in Programs/Accessories/System Tools. It doesn't show any graphs, only text, and shows information about Memory but nothing about CPU.

:) It is messy & will cause your profile to load slow. For fun, go to System Properties in Control Panel, select the Advanced tab and click the Settings button under User Profiles. Check what Size is reported for your profile.

Click any of the graphs showing at the top of process explorer.

Yes, it is large. However, speed of loading isn't a problem for me. I find it quite acceptable.

Ok Arie, I created another user, also with Admin rights. Searching doesn't affect the relatively unpopulated desktop with that, but it does exhibit other strange behaviour - as it does on my normal user's desktop.

That is, searching for what I now know to be left-over junk in the registry after uninstalling National Instrument's Labview gives me two blocks of about eight entries, which is repeated after a few lines without information but preceded with some sort of file icon, then another block of a similar number of entries which also repeats.

I interrupt the search after it does this serveral times.

I can't delete any of these items nor can I get any information by right clicking on any of them.

But I assume tthat his is a problem unrelated to the graphics corruption on my normal user's desktop.
