I recieve a statement with a cgi extension and when I try to open it I get; Windows cannot open, you do not have the necessary program to open it. Is it necessary to buy a program to open it or is there an inexpensive way to do it otherwise?

    Welcome to the BBS! :)

You're not supposed to be able to open .cgi files. I suggest you do a Google search for ".cgi" (without the quotes). The first few entries there contain some information explaining why, and they may be of help to your perhaps finding a workaround.

Maybe someone else here will provide some useful ideas, too.

    Good luck.

What is this statement, and how did you receive it?

A .cgi file, an actual file, is a CGI script. Safely open/edit it in Notepad.
