So remove the ATI software that you have installed (ATI Display Driver).

Run the command netstat -anb > "%userprofile%\Desktop\connections.txt " then copy/paste the contents of connections.txt in your reply.

    Hi Arie,

Add/Remove will not let me remove the ATI Display Driver ( "Unable to uninstall older or non-Ati Display drivers ")

The Connections.txt file is empty. I ran it with and wihtout the "csript..." instruction first. No difference. Sorry.

    Try using Revo Uninstaller

Did you run it from a command prompt?

    Hi Arie,

I uninstalled via Revo and still have some of the ATI errors. I did a regedit search for the string "ATI WDN" but came up empty.

I did a further search via Regedit and I did find lots of ATI WDM entries in different Control Set folders. Should I mess with these?? There are many.

Did more research and found on another forum indicating that these kinds of things are often found in the HKLM/System/CurrentControlSet/Services registry. I first exported the folder that I was about to delete, deleted and rebooted. Event Viewer/System is now showing NO errors!! Thanks!!

Arie, did the Active Connections text have anything interesting to reveal?

I agree. We have tried a lot of steps to help get this computer restored to a fully working state but it seems nothing has worked. I am out of ideas of what can be done.

As Arie pointed out, a clean install may be your only option now.

I'll have to think about that one. I would probably get a new box with Win7/8 before I would do all that.

Thanks to you both for your fantastic help. I guess we are resolved as we are going to get. Happy Holidays!

Hi y'all. Computer has been running pretty good and I had a little free time. I was looking at the entries in the Event Viewer/system and noted the time stamps on those entries. No errors to be found but some of them were a few seconds long and seemed interesting. So, I wanted to run them by you.

    1. One had to do with the Imapi-CD service stopping (having started earlier).... was the very last entry at bootup.

    2. The other had to do with "the computer browser entered a stopped state "- Took 7 seconds before the next entry in Event Viewer.

Any thoughts on these?? Just wondering. Thanks!!

So they are both perfectloy normal? Just looking for ways to reduce the time for the Desktop to complete its bootup.

Do either of these occur after Windows user login?

Larry those information logs are completely normal and both the IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service and the Computer browser would not cause a slow boot up on the machine. They are Windows services that are running by default on the system.
