I just got a new PC and when going through the Windows Media Player setup wizard, I accidentally disabled video so now when I click on to one of my stored videos to play it, I just get the audio and nothing else. I can't for the life of me find those settings again to change it. I have been through TOOLS/OPTIONS and can't seem to find it.

    Thanks for any help.

There is no such option when running the WMP setup.

The only thing you could have done is not set it as your default player for (certain) video files.

Click Default Programs on your Start menu, click Set your default programs, click Windows Media Player an either Set this program as default, or customize the settings from Choose defaults for this program.

This to me indicates that you are probably missing the correct codec. The K-Lite codec pack should solve that.

Hmmm, I see what you are saying Arie but I was given the opportunity to make those settings at one point. It was something along the lines of "Which utilities would you like this program to run? Sound/Video/MP3/MP4 etc. I suspected (likely incorrectly) that WMP was going to take over and play video from websites so I unchecked it. The truth is I don't want WMP to be my default player for everything which is why I was unchecking things. Now I just have to find how to recheck a few of them. I tried your procedure laid out in your message and that didn't give me what I wanted.

    Click the Start button,
click "Default Programs" (on the right),
click "Set program access and computer defaults ",
    click "Custom ",
scroll down to the "Choose a default media player" section and select "Windows Media Player" and then
    click the [OK] button.

Thanks very much Doc. I have decided to use VLC and have loaded it. I would rather not monkey with it now.
