Is there a max # of installs you can make from Win7 Ult. 64 Bit. YES!!! I have a legal original, but I made a copy so the original would stay clean, and unscratched. However, I was attempting a clean install on a brand new, blank SSD drive on a ASUS M5A97/EVO mobo when I got an error msg that said something like BOOTMGR not found.

I'm simply trying to narrow down where I should begin troubleshooting. So if there IS a max. install limit, then I don't need to waste time looking any further.

As far as using the dvd goes - it's Unlimited... The key code is what gets counted.

Hi gplea. Adding to what Steve said, you can install Windows 7 from your DVD as many times as you want. There is no installation limit. However you can only have Windows activated with that particular product key on one machine at a time. If you install Windows 7 with that same DVD on a different computer but you want to activate it also, then you will have to buy another Windows 7 product key to use on that 2nd computer.

You can't make a simple 'copy' of a Windows DVD & think it'll work: It won't.

Have a look here: How to create a bootable copy of your Windows DVD
