Finding Acronis 2012 Backup, was not working properly for me, I uninstalled Acronis from my computer system. Checking Autoruns, found three references to Acronis, unticked boxes. However, at next powerup, all external hard drive were no longer present other than the "C" drive. Again ticking boxes in Autoruns and a powerup, restored all the hard drives. Apparently, Acronis embeds itself in the system with no means to completely erase all references to Acronis.

Unfortunately as discussed in another Thread, Windows 7 Backup refuses to complete the Backup, giving me no Restore point available. Acronis appears to have one only instal, any further reinstal of Acronis simply refers to the first instal settings and simply enters "freeze" mode.

I omitted to put the link to Acronis TIH 2012 Cleanup Facility in my last post - it is there now.

PeteC, thank you for Acronis TIH 2012 Cleanup Facility. Downloaded file and ran it, appears to have cleared up and entries in Autoruns are no longer visible, previous error with external hard drives not showing, has been fixed. After using Acronis Cleaning Facility, computer powers up in the Repair Mode, otherwise all appears to be back to normal, except my pet baby "No Windows backup" is still not working.

SpywareDr, Backup is indeed not working, whatever is causing this issue must be well and truely embeded in Windows. With a lot of help from preople like yourself and my own searching, nothing but frustration. I must indeed be the only surfer, with no Backup facility.

SpywareDr, thank you for latest reply, I ran software, it shows that "found corrupt files, unable to fix them. Details in CBS.log" Command prompt shows that when I type C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log> Enter. Shows Access denied. I searched past records as to correct wording to access contents, unfortunately can not find entry required. Can you please help.

    Try this:
    1. Click the Start orb and type in "cmd" (without the quotes).

    2. In the list that appears, right-click cmd.exe and select "Run as administrator ".

    3. At the command prompt, type in "notepad c:\windows\logs\cbs\cbs.log" (not the quotes) and press [Enter].
If the file exists and it's not empty, are you able to read it now?

Read report in Notepad (lengthy), most are repaired, no reference I could find on Backup. After cmd was run, powered up computer, tried a backup (baby still missing probably dead). Thanks again for your help.

You need to be at a cmd prompt to run chkdsk and sfc.

Click the Start orb, type in "cmd" (not the quotes), in the list that pops up, right-click "cmd.exe" and select "Run as administrator ".

You should now be at a cmd prompt.

To run chkdsk, type "chkdsk /r" (not the quotes) and press [Enter].

To run sfc, type "sfc /scannow" (not the quotes) and press [Enter].

Ran SFC /scannow and CHKDSk /r both programs showed "no problems found ". A missing or corrupted program/file must be the cause for Backup not working properly.

SFC (System File Checker) helps troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files.

CHKDSK can repair problems related to bad sectors, lost clusters, cross-linked files, and directory errors.

Windows 7 was re-installed, this caused chaos with Windows Update, showed 87 updates. Updates took 9 hours and did not complete, all failed. Backup is still refusing to complete and in fact now the blue indicator line displays for a 1/3 of backup as to previous 2/3. Backup has proved to be the mother of all for not fixing error.
