I created a homepage for IE8 (WinXp), IE9 (Vista and Win7) which Internet explorer reads from my Hard Drive (C).

When I bring up Explorer in XP get a Information Bar that says " "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this webpage from running scripts or ActiveX controls that could access your computer. Click here for options..." In Vista and Win7 it says something similiar.

Is there a way I can stop this? I know the page is safe...

Note: On the homepage I made, it contains the most common links I use for example the links for Windows BBS, MSN etc...

Evan Omo, I looked at the link you posted and it looks to be useful. What was suggested does work on a system using XP service pack 2 but it doesn't seem to work on XP SP3 , Vista or Win7. But I could be doing something wrong.

If I follow what is written, it changes the html page into something that is basically an executable, which I don't want. I'll keep reading what is on that page aswell as look at other links off that page and hopefully something will work..

If you are running SP2 on XP, you are way behind and should update to SP3 for safety sake.

On the webpage where it says, To allow any Web site to run scripts and ActiveX controls on your computer:

Follow the instructions from that part and it will work on IE8 or IE9.

MrBill, the system running service pack 2 is meant only for testing and not connected to the internet.. All of my other computers are up to date..

Will that not make my system(s) less secure? What I'd like to have happen is to only have the one page ( the one I made) run without the popup..

Yes it will. Since you just want the one page to be allowed to run Scripts and ActiveX Controls, open IE and click Tools< Internet Options< Security Tab. Highlight the Trusted Sites icon and click on the Sites button.

Where it says add a website to this zone, type the path where your local html file is located and hit the add button. Uncheck the require server verification checkbox. Click the Close button when done. Make sure the Trusted Sites zone has Protected Mode Disabled and set the Security Level for the Trusted Sites zone to low. Thats should hopefully allow the local page to run properly.

When you do what Evan suggested, it will have the web site listed for you already if of the site that you are currently on. Just click Add. I usually go to the web site in question and go from there. If I am in one already, I do what Evan suggested.

Not ALL scripts and Active X controlls are dangerous.
