Aside from being a bit on the slow side, I'm happy with my desktop. My question is can I replace the Intel (R) Core Duo E4500, 2.20GHz with a faster processor?

You should log onto the motherboard manufacturer's web site and check out the CPU compatibility for your mobo.

If we are talking of the PC in My System the mobo is not listed - SIW Home Edition may identify it for you.

Seeing that you are running Win 7 Ult 2 GB of RAM is somewhat inadequate - 4 GB would be better although with the 32 bit architecture only ~3.5 GB will be recognised.

    Pete,

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Just updated 'My System' info. I'm now running 64 Bit W7 Home Premium with 4GB DDR2 Ram. SIW reported it's a Dell MB and it did furnish the slot type. Intel's website confirmed that their Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E8600 (6M Cache, 3.33 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB) can be used.

Now it's a matter of deciding it I want to spend approx $200.00 to upgrade.
