Ext HD and Malware/Virus Question

    I have two external HD attached to my PC. If I happen to incur a malware problem on my desktop and copy or backup to one of the HD, could/would that malware transfer to the HD?

    Short answer - yes.

    Long answer - which AV/security software are you using ? A good AV software should stop almost 80-90% of infections.

    It depends exactly what files you backup to the external drives. The drives won't likely get infected if just backup images, documents, etc.

    If backup the entire user profile or the entire drive, then yes, infected files will be on the external drive.
