Smart meters blamed for Wi-Fi router traffic jam

    Thanks Steve, I'm not convinced this is a worldwide problem though. I would've thought the FCC would have this kind of problem under control (for the US at least) or have I misunderstood their purpose?

    New Meter

    Just had a smart meter installed about two weeks ago. It is about 20 feet from my router location. Haven't noticed any wifi interference or slowdowns since it was installed. Just lucky I guess.:D

    I am about 20 miles from Eglin AFB. A couple of years ago, they were testing some stuff on one of their ranges. People that lived within about 9 or 10 miles from where they were testing were complaining that their garage doors were opening and closing all day long. Some even came home and their garage door opener would not work. Had to re-program them. They denied it for a month or so then admitted that they were doing some kind of testing but would not say what.

    I am waiting for the smartphone app that let's you turn back usage on the smart meters! (or turns UP usage on Texas meters)

    ATF down the road, notified...fortunately, they have no jurisdiction in most of Texas!
