I am looking for help related to the switching from one anti virus to another and the overcoming problems and difficulties caused. I have HP Compaq 6720s laptop with Windows Vista Business. The anti virus at the moment is Norton Internet Security which came preloaded on start-up and is free to use for the first 60 days.

The problems are trying to change the anti virus, I already have a paid account with another service namely Bullguard and I want to switch over to otherwise I have to pay Norton subscription.

When I delete the Norton Internet Security the computer become highly unstable probably because its the preloaded anti-virus. As a result every time I have tried this the computer basically totally crashed with blue screen, error messages etc and the laptop has to be totally rebooted going back to the Norton product.

Anyway I am hoping that there is a safe way that I can delete an antivirus product (even if its pre-installed) and install a new. Please tell me the best way to go about doing this.

    Many thanks in advance

I'm really hoping you meant you UNinstalled Norton and didn't just delete it. Deleting is BAD..

As I recall, Norton also has an uninstall utility on their web iste.

If you know what the Norton product is on your PC, you can go to Norton's website and find an uninstaller for it or else use Revo uninstaller found in the link below. I do the last option as it gets everything.

    http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html

The FREE one works great. Small download. 1.93 GB

1.93GB a small download  times are a changing, I think you meant 1.93 MB MrBill ;)

In saying that Norton do have a removal tool and I'd stick with that, who else better than the producer knows how to completely remove their product. Nothing against Revo BTW.

EDIT: Forgot to post the link, Download and run the Norton Removal Tool to uninstall your Norton product
