Am running win 7 x64. Would like to get rid ThumbsPlus and all the unwanted folders. I understand Thumbsplus is part of Windows but can't find it.

It's not part of Windows - it is third party software, see ThumbsPlus

Thanks, Pete. Then response to another message prompted my query.

But, what do you do when the vendor provides no way to to remove the prograqm. The vendor's online manuals, up to v. 8, indicate it should be found in Programs and Features where it can be removed. It is not there!

Hence, the more general question, if there is a program imder Win 7, not to be found in Programs and Features or in System Configuration, where is it to be found??? Or put another way, why is it there? I didn't install it!!

Hi Chuck. Try downloading and running the portable version of Revo Uninstaller from here. Hopefully you can find the ThumbsPlus program and remove it using that program.

It may have been installed as a drive by installation with, say, camera software. The fact that there is no obvious uninstaller is curious.

If you type ThumbsUp in the Search Box - Orb > Search Programs & files do you get any response?

Check out Startup under All Programs ....

You could try RevoUninstaller and see if that picks it up.

You may to wrench it out with brute force by searching the registry for ThumbsUp and Cerious - export the keys and then delete from the registry.

Thanks guys for the great suggestions. Won't be able to try them unitl tomorrow morning.

We are just home from a wonderful performance of the opera, Carmen, by George Bizet, here in Seattle. If you're familiar with the opera, you'll be interested to know that Toreador is not a real word!! It was invented for Carmen. There are matadors, etc., but no toreadors!

Will let you know what succeeds.

    Revo Uninstaller:
No graphic icon for either Cerious or Thumbsplus.

    Remove from Registry:
Sucess!! That did it. Unfortunately, in my concern about getting rid of it, I didn't back up in Regedit to find the source of the entry.ds I do have the exported Registry. Is there any way of looking in it without restoring it.

    Thanks again,
    Chuck

If you exported the keys you deleted before deleting these will be .reg files and can be opened to view contents using right click > edit

    Thanks Pete,

Was able to tace it back. It was software under the name JODonell. Never heard of him. My system is only abouty 5 mo. old.

We can close this out now.
